As you have probably noticed. It’s been a while since I have posted to my blog. I guess I have just been too busy with work and life. I have a confession to make. I haven’t been keeping up with my Callanetics program for quite while now due to by busy work schedule. Although I have let my Callanetics exercise routine slip, I am now more than determined to get it back on track!
As you know, this is my personal blog which I created to be a diary of my progress using the fantastic Callanetics program by Callan Pinckney. I feel I have let myself down by not keeping up with it. Anyway, I am now back on track and started the program again a few days ago. I hope to keep you posted on my progress!
P.S. It would be great to hear about your progress (for those who have shown a little more dedication than me!). Feel free to comment below with your own personal experienced!

Over the past few years as I gained more and more weight and got more and more out of condition I kept telling myself not to worry because sooner or later I would get back to Callanetics and it would all be all right. I originally did them in the late 80s when I was in my early 30s. I was so impressed with the strength I gained and the physical changes in my body that I eventually taught a class on them at a local adult ed program. Even with all of my knowledge and experience I eventually let life get in the way and stopped practicing them. So here I am at 56, badly out of shape and 60 pounds overweight but I’ve finally returned to the most effective exercise program available. Today I did my third session and the results are remarkable, of course. You don’t get these kind of results with any other program. The neuropathy and pain in my right thigh that has bothered me for almost two years has greatly diminished. I anticipate that within weeks it will vanish altogether. I can turn my head to look behind me with no discomfort, something I’ve not been able to do for at least a month. The knot of tension in my lower back has melted away. Most remarkable, the signs of capillary blockage that had begun to show on my lower legs and feet has begun to vanish. My neck is already beginning to reemerge, I’m standing taller, I ran for a bus today and wasn’t winded at all. These are simply the expected results of Callanetics. I have no desire to play with the new programs, choosing to stay with the tried and true original series from the book. Why mess with success? Callan spent years perfecting that program and it was so effective because it required you to pay close attention to positioning and controlled movement without strain. I always refer to them as the hardest simple exercises I have ever tried. I enjoy the meditative nature of these gentle, controlled movements and with disciplined practice you are guaranteed to be tighter, stronger and younger looking every single day. My busy schedule has room for twice a week practice and nothing more. I like the process of making a new body. Good luck with your program. It will be fun to follow your success. I’ll keep you updated on mine.
I have been doing Callanetics for the past 20 years July 1st. I was 45 when I started with the beginner tape and a year later began doing the Super Callanetics twice a week. I incorporate that with two days of light weights and 2 days jogging 2 1/2 miles. I’ll be 65 in December and am on no medications and feel great. I actually feel better now than I did at 45. As long as I can get up in the morning and do this I will. I truly believe if you eat right and exercise you can stay youthful and active all your life.
Thank you Callan Pinckney.
i have been studying callanetics on and off over the past 8 years. i had a wonderful teacher in my hometown of Riverdale, but she moved to Israel. at that time i was going at least 2x a week and felt great. after she left, my friend and i pleaded with the ‘master instrutor’ to teach us. it evolved into a once weekly sunday morning class. but over the past 6 months, it was cut back to 2 times a month. this is definitely not enough- and though she teaches other classes, the times are often not convenient, and the location involves paying over $10 in tolls, so thats a real deterrent. I have a bunch of the old Callanetics tapes, but never found them to be particularly inspiring. I still believe that callanetics is one of the best forms of excercise out there. it is odd that there isn’t a single instructor in NYC! Good luck at getting back into it. it is a great, great practice
Hey I’ve done Callanetics but would like to find and vhs or dvd,.. which one would you recomend,… thinking of 10 years younger one ??
